Natural Beauty: Crystal Deodorant

Speaking of natural everyday beauty, did you know that a mineral salt crystal is a very effective natural deodorant that actually works? Till last week I had no idea, but thanks to my friend Eliza, now I am a proud owner of a crystal salt bar! If you apply it directly after a shower (on your squeaky clean skin) it prevents the forming of the bacteria that causes odor on the skin, and it works for up to 24 hours. Not to mention that it lasts forever and allows your underarms to breathe…

What do you think, would you try it? What is your experience with natural deodorants?

How Danny DeVito Eats An Egg (Broadway Style)

Here is something to make your Monday morning jolly!

This past March, Danny DeVito made his Broadway debut in a production of Arthur Miller’s 'The Price'. Part of his role is that every single night he must peel and eat a hard-boiled egg while still delivering his lines clearly and without choking. As you can imagine, it's a tricky task :) So recently, the Times' theater section released this hilarious little video above, in which Danny exactly demonstrates how he does just that, like a true pro he is:)

It made my day!

P.S: Speaking of eggs...
P.P.S: Drake on cake.

10 Takes on Mindful Everyday Style

Thursday, May 11, 2017

...And while we are on the subject of all things organic, let's also talk green fashion. Lately I've been more and more conscious about what I buy and what I wear. As much as I want to know if my shampoo has tons of synthetics, I also want to make sure that the clothes I wear are natural, sustainable, organic, ethical and that the people who make them, do so in a good working environment.

The last couple of months taught me that by carefully choosing what I buy, I actually end up buying less and wearing things for much longer. The reason? Slow, conscious fashion usually means better quality everyday pieces that you can wear over and over again, so they can really become your staples.

Anyway, as with beauty products, it's all about going slow with the transition, one-piece-at-a-time. So below you can find ten everyday basics that I wear and love - all sustainable, all organic, all beautifully comfortable, all pretty darn sassy and all without compromises....

From the top: 1. Two Fold - Reese dress - 2. SeaSalt - Breton top - 3. Monsoon - denim shirt dress - 4. HOPE Made in the World - cotton u-neck t-shirt - 5. Eileen Fisher - handkerchief linen skirt - 6. MATTER - side-swept dhoti.

From the top: 7. Grana - Oxford boyfriend shirt - 8. Everlane - linen square shirt - 9. finisterre - Idlyss jumper - 10. HOPE Made in the World - pima cotton scarf.

Any favourites?

P.S: Remember this?
P.P.S: If you only buy one thing this month...

Tiny Everyday Reminders

Alexandra Elle is a brilliant author and poet based in Washington DC. She believes in affirmative self-talk and she thinks we should all be our own biggest cheerleader - even on those sucky days that make no sense. So, recently she started to do just that by writing down little reminders/affirmations to herself on a piece of paper and sharing them in her feed in hopes to inspire others and shift the focus… I love them!

What would be your little reminder today?

P.S: Sādhanā.
P.P.S: And tons more on life, love and happiness.

Sustainable Natural Everyday Beauty

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

In the words of Howard Zinn: 'small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world'. So, this spring I stepped up my game and tried to only buy/use organic, natural, sustainable cosmetics that are not only good for my eco-system, but also our planet's eco-system. My biggest challenge was to find great and simple, everyday beauty products that have no plastic packaging. Having said that, I discovered a bunch of true gems. So if you're committed to natural beauty and you want to be more zero-waste, go slow replacing things one-by-one and eventually, you will make a huge difference.

Here are 13 ways to do just that:

From the top: 1. MOA 'Hello sunshine' energising body oil to use as a lotion - 2. Mable bamboo (club) toothbrush subscription that will be sent to your door every 3 months - 3. Fat and The Moon 'green man scented balm' aka your new perfume - 4. Herbivore Botanicals sea mist in lavender for messy summer hair - 5. Dr. Bronner castile bar soap for the whole body and your face too - 6. Elate Cosmetics universal creme to make your skin dewy and radiant - 7. Muehle safety razor for shaving - 8. Uncle Harry's peppermint toothpaste - 9. Schmidt's deodorant - 10. Georganics mouthwash - 11. La Tierra Sagrada shampoo - 12. SW. Basics cream for your face - 13. Butter Me Up Organics sunscreen.

Any favourites?

P.S: Plus, a few homemade recipes you might want to try.

If you only buy one thing this month...

...it should be the Winky Lux flower balm. Have you heard of it?

After reading tons about it and seeing it all over Instagram, my friend Sofia and I finally gave in and bought one last week. To say we are smitten is an understatement!

Basically this little gem is a sustainable and natural see-through lip stain/balm that contains a real chrysanthemum flower in the colour of your choice. The best bit, besides looking cheery, is that the clear balm reacts with your skin's pH levels, uniquely creating the perfect shade of pink lips just for you. And if that's not enough, it also smells amazing!

I got mine with the yellow flower and Sofia got hers with the blue flower. Will you try it? Have you already? Do tell...

P.S: Here you can see how all the different hues look on different skin tones.

5-Ingredient Smoothie Frenzy

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Recently, Balazs and I've been swapping after-dinner desserts for healthy smoothies!

So the other day, while looking up easy and delicious recipes to whip up in a jiffy, I stumbled upon those 5-ingredient gems above. They are visually beautiful, undeniably healthy, not complicated at all, and actually look better than your average dessert, if you ask me:). So far we made the mint chocolate chip mix and the blueberry pancake mix - both were delicious!

Which one tickles your fancy?

P.S: Also, the healthiest bit of avocado.
P.P.S: And, a few summery takes on watermelon.
